Acne Vulgaris - Not Only For Teenagers

Health Articles | August 21, 2009

Acne vulgaris also known as acne for short is a skin condition whereby your sebaceous glands produce excess oil causing your skin pores to be clogged and resulting in the formation of acne.

There are nearly 20 million people in the United States who are affected by acne vulgaris and while the majority are teenagers, there are also adults who suffer from this skin disease.

Teenagers are more at risk due to hormonal changes but when venturing into adulthood, there are some who are still afflicted with this problem and can't seem to get away with it but rather live with it. The truth is that acne can occur in a person's life at any age. Teens who haven't experienced acne before might do it in adulthood.

Acne vulgaris can be harsh for some people and mild for others. The best thing to do is find a solution as early as possible. The earlier you tackle it, the better. If you don't find a proper acne treatment, your acne will just sit there and even worsen. Once you find an effective treatment, the key to get rid of that acne is to use it regularly and consistently until it's healed.

Then, lead a healthy lifestyle. Deal with stress effectively by spending some time for relaxation and calm, exercising, deep breathing, yoga and getting enough rest. Stress is among the causes of acne. Also, pay proper attention to healthy eating. Greasy or oily foods can provoke acne in some people.

Acne vulgaris can interfere with people's self-esteem and confidence but you don't have to let it be that way.
